Arizona/Utah Weekend Itinerary: 3 Days in Page, Sedona & Southern Utah

This was how I spent a weekend following an Arizona Utah weekend itinerary, exploring Page, Sedona, and Southern Utah and honestly, it was way different than I expected.

Travel Tips for Visiting Page Arizona & Southern Utah

I flew into Page, Arizona, and just a heads up, there aren’t any direct flights. You’ll need to fly into Phoenix and then take a small connecting flight (about an hour).

Quick note: the communication between airlines was… rough. Flights were delayed due to snow, and no one seemed to have updates. Just mentally prepare for that if you're booking.

Also, go later than February if you can. It was freezing. I’m talking 9 degrees in the morning in Kanab, Utah.

And one more thing I did NOT expect:No desert vibes. No cactuses. Just red rock mountains and snow. Beautiful, but surprising.

Day 1: Page Arizona Highlights (Horseshoe Bend & Glen Canyon)

We kicked things off with lunch at BirdHouse (solid 7/10), then stopped at a random Shell gas station… which turned out to be a hidden gem.

Behind it is a sandstone cave, super quick stop, but worth it if you’re passing through.

Next up:

  • Glen Canyon Dam Overlook

  • Navajo Mountain viewpoint overlooking Lake Powell

Both had incredible views and barely any crowds (probably off-season).

We ended the day at Horseshoe Bend.

Here’s my honest tip:➡️ Don’t go at sunset.

The way the sun sets behind the mountains makes lighting terrible for photos. Midday is honestly better.

  • $10 per vehicle

  • 10–15 minute walk

Still worth it, just timing matters.

Day 2: Antelope Canyon & Sedona Scenic Drive

This was the highlight of the entire trip: Antelope Canyon.

If it looks familiar, it’s because one of the canyon photos was literally a Windows desktop background and somehow, it’s even better in real life.

Important:

  • You must book with a Navajo guide

  • We did Lower Antelope Canyon

  • Tour lasts about an hour

Our guide even took photos for us and played a song on a Native American flute, such a cool experience.

After that, we drove toward Sedona.

We didn’t get to fully explore, but even a quick stop?Absolutely breathtaking.

We pulled over for a 5-minute hike and the views were insane. If I could redo this trip, I’d spend way more time in Sedona.

Day 3: Southern Utah Adventures & Sand Hollow

Southern Utah surprised me the most, it’s seriously underrated.

We drove through Hurricane, Utah and kept stopping at random scenic spots along the road.

Then we did a sunset UTV tour, and WOW:

  • Climbing rocks (terrifying but worth it)

  • Driving through sand dunes (so fun)

  • Ending at Sand Hollow State Park at sunset

The water was insanely blue. One of the best views of the trip.

Where to Stay: Kanab Utah Airbnb Experience

We stayed in Kanab, Utah, which is a great central location for exploring both Arizona and Southern Utah.

Just keep in mind:

  • Very limited food options

  • Stock up on groceries in Page

Seriously, your main options are fast food and pizza.

Honest Travel Tips & Things I Wish I Knew

  • 🚗 Driving at night is dark, no streetlights at all

  • ❄️ Weather can be unexpectedly cold

  • 📸 Timing matters for popular spots like Horseshoe Bend

  • 🧭 Sedona deserves more time than you think

  • 🚙 Some locations require a 4x4 (like Dinosaur Track Site)

Also, real talk, if you’re a person of color, just be aware of your surroundings in smaller towns. Most of the trip felt completely fine, but we did have one uncomfortable stop.

Final Thoughts on This Arizona Utah Weekend Itinerary

Overall, this Arizona Utah weekend itinerary was an incredible trip.

Between Antelope Canyon, Sedona views, and Southern Utah adventures, there’s so much to see and we barely scratched the surface.

I’d absolutely go back, stay longer, and explore more hiking trails and hidden spots.

And the stars at night?Unreal. No streetlights, no noise, just a sky full of stars.
