For years, I’ve wanted to visit Texas Tulips, located just north of Dallas. I finally made it happen last year, and this is my fun, low effort Dallas day trip itinerary, perfect if you want flowers, good food, and cute local vibes without committing to a full weekend.
Here’s how my day trip to Dallas went, start to finish.
Morning Stop: Texas Tulips (Just North of Dallas)

We started the day at Texas Tulips, and I’m happy to report it lived up to the hype. We went during the first week of March, and there were already a ton of tulips in bloom.
That being said… it was:
Super muddy
Lowkey freezing
Extremely slippery
There were rows and rows of tulips, which made it totally worth it, but I personally witnessed at least two people fully wipe out. Learn from them. Wear good shoes. Shoes you don’t care about. Shoes with traction. You’ve been warned.
Despite the mud and cold, this was such a cute and unique stop and a great way to kick off a day trip near Dallas.
Exploring Denton, Texas (About 30 Minutes Away)
After Texas Tulips, we drove about 30 minutes to Denton, Texas, and honestly? Denton might be the underrated star of this trip.
Lunch at Graffiti Pasta
We ate at Graffiti Pasta, and it was a solid 9/10. Comfort food done right and exactly what we needed after freezing in a tulip field.
Denton Square Adventures
We spent some time walking around Denton Square, which has such a fun, laid-back vibe. This is where things got a little impulsive, in the best way.
Yes, we got impulsive tattoos. No regrets.
The Plot Twist Bookstore
One of my favorite stops of the day. The Plot Twist is an adorable bookstore with a large romance selection, but honestly, the interior is the real star. There’s a lounge area and a bar, making it such a cozy spot to hang out, read, or just exist for a bit. Major vibe.
Jupiter House Coffee
A must-stop if you’re in Denton. Jupiter House Coffee was a 10/10 and the perfect afternoon pick-me-up.
Final Stop: Post Malone’s Cowboys-Themed Cane’s
On the way home, we had to stop at the Post Malone x Dallas Cowboys themed Raising Cane’s. Cane’s is always a win (not sponsored, unfortunately), but this location is actually kind of cool inside and worth a quick stop if you’re already nearby.
Final Thoughts on This Dallas Day Trip
This day trip to Dallas was the perfect mix of cute, chaotic, and casual. From muddy tulip fields to Denton eats, books, tattoos, and coffee, it felt spontaneous without being stressful.
If you’re looking for:
